Excuses, excuses…

Well, while working on the house/yard over the last couple weeks I managed to hurt my shoulder to the point where I have trouble even siting and typing at the computer or even concentrating on things (AKA Hell).  I finally broke down and went to the doctor (lost my med. insurance when my work hours got cut) and was told that I am developing some arthritis in my shoulder which I apparently exacerbated by over-working it.

The Doc prescribed some pills which after a week don’t seem to have done much. Of course he also suggested that I take some time of work, however that is not an option.

So, yeah, this is basically a whine-fest, poor me post.

  1. My sympathies. Chronic pain is never an easy thing to live with.

Would it be possible for you to get a consult with a rheumatologist? They might have some other suggestions on treatment options.

  2. Thanks MrMarkAZ.

Well, my shoulder joint feels a little better today so I am hoping it will go back to more normal before too long (still some pain in my arm and back). As for further Doc consults, money is an issue since I have to pay in cash (no insurance), so unless it gets a lot worse or my circumstances change radically, I have to keep the doctor visits down to a minimum.

  3. Good luck on the shoulder. After tearing (2 years apart) both rotator cuffs, I’m vigorously in agreement that the worst pain is unrelenting pain. (In agreement with a couple of women I know who experienced rotator cuff tears or other months-long bouts of pain that this was far worse than labor pains.)

Do take care of your shoulder. Since yours is arthritis, rather than my rotator cuff tear, my experience and rehab. exercises may not be very relevant. But, if you’re interested, drop me a note.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. If your shoulder is badly enough messed up, also feel free to email when you can finally wash your hair normally or pull something off the top of the refrigerator. I’ll understand what milestones these are.
